We encounter many Identities inside our self, but we often do not know or recognize what or who our Real Self just actually is or refers to. One of the reasons why this is the case, stems from the fact that we do not know how to look. We often run on “automatic”, which really means we act and think mechanically. When this occurs, we cannot stand back and observe what is really going on inside of us. This tends to promote the construction of many different identities that organize itself around both functional and not so functional situations.
When there is a continuity of these many identities, which are really nothing other than self-images, we tend to obstruct or block primal areas of the mind which are more real than the socially constructed identity. One of the aspects of our Real Self, is a deeper Space which is the essence of Consciousness and has the property of “witnessing” our experience, as it occurs. This can be quite challenging to accomplish if the continuity of identities are extended in consciousness. The way to break into an aspect of our Real Self is to learn specific trainings which not only enable us to encounter something more real within our self, but also support more functional identities which can function appropriately in the world.
